Come & stay at our easy going 3br place in the sunny Art Deco capital of Napier.
We live in a tidy fixer-upper in Napier, pretty much smack bang in the middle between Napier and Hastings, and a quick hop on the expressway to Hastings, Havelock North and beyond.
There are so many things to do in our region, both for families and adults – check out www.hawkesbaynz.com for inspiration.
I have a 3 y.o. 50% of the time so am keen to swap with families or others who are open to kids being kids (within reason!), or else an option for a kid-free getaway.
A big dog and a 3 legged cat live here, though the dog won’t be here when you are (we will either take him with us if that’s ok at your place, or else kennel him), and simply asking you to throw some food and water at our smoochy easy going cat.
Here you have two comfy Queen rooms plus a kids room which has 1 x single bed, and can accommodate a second single mattress on request.
I also have a portacot, high chair and other baby friendly guff if needed – just ask.
It’s pretty much your classic 1960s home, with the walls in the living areas partially in renovation mode (but totally liveable, safe and enjoyable).
The new kitchen is a joy to cook in and all decked out with gas cooktop and a fridge that makes ice and cold water for you. Enjoy!
I grow herbs on the patio that you can throw in your meals if you’re so inclined to get cheffy.
Out the back is a big lawn, an entertaining area with BBQ and sandpit, and toys for smaller kids. You do back onto the motorway here but it’s no drama.
In the cooler times we have a modern wood fire inside (well insulated) and a chiminea by the BBQ area to keep you cosy.
Bathroom, separate toilet and laundry, are all modern ish and functional. There’s bubble bath for a soak too! Gas hot water also means you can have the world’s longest shower if that’s your jam.
I like the idea of being able to go somewhere and take the kids (and maybe dog) and feel at home. I imagine many people are the same.
At our place the bus stop to Napier/Hastings is 400m away, and the bus to Taradale shops and wineries such as Mission & Church Rd is 500m.
If you have a car I love the fact that most things are within 5-7 mins drive, 15-20 to Hastings and 25 to Havelock. Napier city & the Ahuriri village/dining precinct are a 5 min drive away.
Rivers, beaches and bushwalks are never far away either and I welcome your questions on the good spots.
Hawke’s Bay’s cycle trails are within a stone’s throw and you can head in virtually any direction from here – to sea, estuary, river, and stop at vineyards, the ice cream shop or a country pub. There’s a bike hire place a couple of minutes away.
For the dog/s we have a separate fenced area with large kennel behind the garage that youre welcome to use if needed. My dog sleeps in the laundry though, full disclosure!
That’s it for now but do enquire for more info if you’re interested in a swap. At this stage I’m looking for somewhere within NZ to swap but will consider further afield for 2019. Am interested in swaps for weekends or longer, and am flexible on dates.
Send me a message!
Cheers 🙂
