Ideal swap locations: Hawkes Bay: Preferably Havelock North / Hastings area
Ideal swap dates: School holidays: (July, Sept/Oct and December/January) for anything between 1 to 6 weeks
Car Swap possible: Although we normally take one of our cars with us, my car, which is a Subaru XV is available for swapping.
We are ideally looking to house swap for a week or 2 (or potentially all of December/January) with someone from Havelock North/Hawkes Bay.
Our usual summer holiday is spent at our bach on the beach in Central Hawkes Bay. We would love to have a bolt hole in the Havelock North/Hastings area where we can base ourselves if we are ever in town or for when my sister and family wish to use the bach. We need to be able to accommodate our labrador, Jess, who is cleaner and tidier than most teenagers I know but who doesn’t see eye to eye with my sister’s cats!! We are often in HB from mid December until the end of January and sometimes over the September/October school holidays. So our home in Arrowtown could be available any time during these periods. We would also be willing to discuss the possibility of a swap during winter but pet sitting would be a requirement over this period as we’d leave Jess at home.
Our home
Our home is situated in an established neighbourhood in gorgeous Arrowtown. We are far enough away from the tourist bustle in the village to enjoy the peace and quiet while still being within easy walking distance (under 10 mins).
We have recently renovated the house which has 3 good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus an office/4th bedroom. There are 3 queen sized beds and a king single in the office. We also have a single mattress which can easily be accommodated in any of the bedrooms for an extra person. The garden is a generous size and the section is fully fenced if you have a dog on holiday with you. There is a deck with outdoor furniture and seating along with a good BBQ for the long summer evenings we have in the deep south.
Arrowtown
Arrowtown has the advantage of being close to Queenstown but away from the madness. Arrowtown also gives you easy access to Wanaka and the rest of the lovely Central Otago area.
Within a 5 minute walk from our home is the gorgeous Arrow River with a lovely loop walking/cycling track taking about 45-60 minutes to complete at a leisurely pace. We have myriad walking and cycling tracks around Arrowtown which afford amazing views and a real variety of terrain. A very well stocked 4-Square is literally just around the corner and we are a stone’s throw from the camping ground which has a fantastic playground and is also adjacent to the tennis courts which we have access to. Arrowtown has a small but well patronised public swimming pool near the village and within 10 minutes walk from our house. Our local golf course is very popular and we are also blessed to be very close to The Hills and Millbrook golf courses.
There are several gorgeous restaurants and cafes in the village and it’s an easy 5 minute drive to either Millbrook, Amisfield and Akarua Wines & Kitchen by Artisan for more local dining options. Fabulous wineries and dining options abound in our region so you have many choices for dining and wine tasting if you want to venture further!!
